| Youth Service California, an Oakland-based nonprofit, is seeking an Americorps Vista Member to work for its Cesar E. Chavez Afterschool Service Clubs initiative in Eureka. Position Summary: The Cesar E. Chavez Service Clubs are funded by a grant from California Volunteers--Office of the Governor. These Service Clubs are established in middle schools throughout California, from San Diego to Eureka. Each AmeriCorps*VISTA member will work full-time for a year with these afterschool Service Clubs, so that Service Club students will have appropriate places and resources to perform meaningful service in their communitities. AmeriCorps*VISTA members will advocate for the Service Clubs, work with Service Club staff and community partners to develop service projects, and plan for the long-term sustainability of the Service Clubs. AmeriCorps*VISTA members will receive on-going training and support in youth development, service-learning, and the life and legacy of Cesar E. Chavez from the Corporation for National and Community Service, Youth Service California, School Districts, and the Cesar E. Chavez Foundation. Qualifications: --A desire to work with youth. --Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. --Excellent communication and organization skills.
